The VERY Hungry Caterpillar!

Last night we had yet another "country moment".  After we had all doused ourselves in a healthy coat of OFF, we headed out to enjoy the nice evening.  We've relearned our lesson quickly about mosquitos...unfortunately we all look like we have the chicken pox now! UGH!  Anyway, the kids were busy playing on bikes, scooters, skate boards, etc. and I was watering the flowerbed.  Good times!  Of course my kids flock to water like a moth to a flame so in no time I had lots of "helpers".  Shortly after they were all screeching and screaming.... "MOM! MOM!  Come here!!!"  They were SO excited to show me this...

This picture is deceiving... this sucker is like 4 and a half inches LONG!  It's HUGE!

Of course my kids insisted we keep it as a "pet" to see if it will turn into a butterfly.  After further inspection of the flowerbeds, we found several.  My poor, poor plants!  Several of them have been chewed to sticks. Grrr!

Ironically "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" happens to be Chloe's FAVORITE book right now.  She absolutely LOVES when he eats all that junk food on Saturday, and the fact that she can "read" it just literally makes her face glow!  Not surprisingly she keeps trying to feed our little wormy critters cake, pie, cereal....whatever she can get her hands on, to get them to "hurry up to be a butterfly"! LOL!  We shall see!  However, I'm just thankful there are at least a few less hungry caterpillars feasting on my flowers!
