Howdy y'all!
Since we practically live out in the country (ha!) Chloe was quite at home (it might have also been due to the fact that we had just visited the May Farms less than 2 weeks ago with Colby's class for a school field trip). Regardless she had a fantastic time!
I mean seriously... look at the extremes these animals will go for a feed cube! CRAZY!! (LOL!)
Ugh... that tounge is actually touching her hand... thank goodness for hand sanitizer! Again... just look at that neck stretch.. I think these goats are part giraffe! Ha!
She thought this guy was so funny! It was precious to watch her stand on her tippy toes to reach him!
I felt like he deserved a close up! Such a "smug stud"! LOL!
They really wanted to "feed" the donkey... apparently throwing pellets at him was good enough. I can't blame them... he had quite the "hee haw"! LOL!
Shortly after we arrived we were informed that one of the momma goats was in labor and her water had just broken. Rather than just go about the visit, this "event" was to take center stage. Let me just say that I've NEVER seen anything born and whoa baby was I in for a surprise! Chloe could have cared less and took great joy in not having to compete with the others and happily fed at LEAST 25 cups of food to the animals in the pin.
Here comes the baby! My stomach is still hurting. I honestly felt her pain.
Can you imagine giving birth in front of a whole herd of humans... half of which are 3 and under?!?! LOL!
IT'S A BOY!! Gotta love that maternal instinct! Precious!
WHOA! Trying to stand after about 5 minutes! Crazy! But isn't he cute???
The owner named him "Mops" because we were there when he was born. How fun!
Givin' her baby some love!
Chloe was very relieved when all the "excitement" was over so we could get back to the real FUN... holding baby animals!
Petting a baby bunny! This little guy was about 6 weeks old and ADORABLE!
Look at that little mamma taking care of the baby chick! So cute!
And of course no trip to the May Farms is complete without a CrAzY hay-less hayride!
Funny story.... so we're sitting on the trailer all ready to go and this other mom (whom I don't know), calls to her daughter (also named Chloe)... "Chloe, come sit with me!" So guess who hops right up and plops down in her lap completely ditching her REAL Momma! YUP! That'd be my child. Can't say it didn't hurt a little bit, especially after watching the precious mother/child bond be created and embraced... but honestly it was too funny! And hey, I now have another friend. Thanks Naomi!
And after we got home, it was time to get to work on our own "farmland"! They finally sprayed our hydromulch yesterday so we've been busy pulling weeds every free chance we get. My hands are sore from the johnson grass and we still have so much left to do. But anyway, here's our "blue grass" as Chloe calls it!
And when my hands could no longer pull weeds... I moved on to my next "country chore"... harvesting the garden! This was the first bountiful harvest of the season!
Snow Peas and 2 grape tomatoes! Guess what we're having for dinner tomorrow!
Well folks this little lady is ready to "hit the hay"! Y'all come back now... ya here! LOL!

Little "Mops" the goat is precious! Love the pictures - Chloe is adorable with all the animals!
ReplyDeleteI want to go! We have neever beent here but I know Abby would love it. Where is it? Also, the story about Chloe jumping laps made me laugh out loud! Ha! What a girl!
ReplyDeletewow i can't type!
ReplyDeleteErin: It's north of Hawley. About 20 minutes from our neighborhoods. You can only go with a group that has reservations, but it's really worth it! I think MOPS is planning several trips out there this summer. Cost is $3 per child, but they get to feed unlimited cubes, go on a pony ride, hay ride, and hold every baby animal imaginable, and if you're REALLY lucky... you can get the MOPS special and see a baby be born! LOL! I'll let you know the next time I hear of a group going to visit.
