Like I said before, last night we had homemade Chinese food! It's one of my favorites too, second only to Mexican food! When my dad was in the air force my parents actually got to know a couple who were originally from China and their family owned many restaurants there. As their friendship continued, they shared some family recipes with my parents, and they have since passed them down to me. I took a few pictures just because it's not something people typically cook, and well, pictures just make a blog more fun! Our menu last night consisted of pork won-tons, sweet & sour sauce, fried rice, and banana won-tons for dessert. I was going to do pepper steak last night too, but we have so many left overs from this week, I didn't want to over do it.
This is the won tons frying up to crispy yummy-ness! Mmmmm!
Perfectly golden brown!
Sweet & Sour Sauce
I have to share the recipe for this because it just cracks me up every time I read it.
Sweet & Sour Sauce Recipe:
Mix cornstarch and water until it turns white. Cook over heat, stirring constantly, until it turns clear. Add sugar until it's sweet. Add in white vinegar until it smells sour. Add ketchup unitl it turns red. Stir to combine!
That's it! Never seen a recipe like it! Hilarious! However, if you are interested, I've made it enough now to know approximate measurements.
Fried Rice!
And because I had a few won ton wrappers left over... I mixed up a yummy cinnamon-sugar banana combo and fried up some "banana fritter" won tons. I sprinkled them with with powdered sugar and it was a winner!
I'm really looking forward to tonight and having leftovers from "around the world". Since I'm the only one who hasn't had my choice fixed yet, I decided a good favorite "dinner suggestion" would be to not have to cook! LOL!

seriously, you need a cooking break after this week girl! sounds like you have spent your week in the kitchen. please pass some of that desire my way. wow, you would have to post picks of that yummy goodness from last night that we had to pass up. ask again please!
