After a few days of sun the unbelievable has finally happened... well, at least it's in the process of happening!! Squint your eyes REAL hard, think green, and yes, you will see little blades of grass in the midst of our mud pit! The kids haven't been able to go to their swing set in weeks because as soon as the ground dries up, it snows or rains AGAIN!! As a matter of fact, we had snow on Monday and there is rain in the forecast everyday from Thursday into next week! I am very thankful for the beautiful weather we are having in between though!! Chloe and I are actually going to have a picnic in the park this afternoon! She's been talking a lot about picnics lately, and I thought this would be a fun surprise! I've actually been surprising the kids a lot this week. Last night I made these yummy strawberry-banana parfaits for dessert! Amazing what a little pudding, cake, fruit & milk will do for an incentive for a fun dinner and lots of clean plates!!!
But, back to the yard for a second... we actually bought trees this weekend!!! Living out in the country has yet another "perk"... I use that term VERY loosely!!! But, we have SO MANY sales people come visit us! It's CrAzY!!! We actually have more than one "meat man" come to our house --- they sell restaurant grade chicken/steaks/seafood/pork. We bought some and it is very good, but never in my wildest dreams did I think we'd have more than one "meat man". Ha! Anyway, we've been hit up for everything from a fence, sprinkler system, gutters, landscaping, etc. This weekend I guess Jarred was in the "mood" to talk numbers when some tree guys stopped by. In their defense, it is very obvious our house is new and needs work. I'm sure having the mud pit on the street makes us easy targets! LOL!!! So, after lots of negotiating we have 3 newly planted tress in our yard. They are all about 3-4 inch trunks and between 10 and 12 feet tall -- I was not going to go "mudding" just to get closer pictures. Ha!
This is a picture of the magnolia in the front yard.
The live oak in the back yard.
The red oak. That's the kid's playset way "out yonder". Ha!

Look at that baby grass poking through! Love it!
