SNOW "SWEEPING"!

I had no intentions of posting twice today, but I felt the need to document the last hour of torture I endured.  It started snowing sometime before 8:00 last night (when we left hip hop class it was coming down), and it has not stopped to my knowledge since!!! We have about 6 inches on the ground and the kids' school was cancelled today.  They were thrilled... I was grateful for the opportunity to sleep in, but I had high hopes of running a few errands and that thought was quickly put to a hault!  Anyway, they made "crafts" all morning, making paper snowflakes, etc.  After lunch, and just as I was about to pull out my "fun mommy" card of building a snowman, having hot cocoa, and making oreo truffles for a snack, Colby's neighborhood friend came down and I (as my kids would put it) got "ditched" by Colby.  Luckily the girls still wanted to stay and play with me and we had some quick but COLD fun -- it's 27 outside and windy.

For those of you who don't know, we have a very long driveway because our house is set in the middle of our lot.  It doesn't take a scientist to know that slushy snow + overnight super cold temperatures = an icy mess of a driveway.  Since Jarred is still in sunny Flordia, I knew it was up to me (aka "muscle mamma" - sounds like a super hero name right?? Hee hee!)  to take matters into my own hands so we don't end up in the ditch tomorrow.  We recently had  20+ truck loads of dirt dumped in our yard to "level" it, so the ground is very soft.  If you even step off the sidewalk you sink at least 6 inches!  It's horrible and since this has been one of the wettest winters in history who knows when it will dry up.

So, back to the "sweeping," unfortunately we can't remember what happened to our snow shovel, so a push broom was the best we have at this point.  I'm seriously considering trying out for the women's curling team next olympics!  Man that was NOT easy, but I got plenty of practice, and frankly if a 6 month pregnant woman can do it, I'm thinking that after today so can I! Ha!  So glad we have something easy already planned for dinner and I'm considering letting the kids play in the jacuzzi this afternoon so we can get baths done early and maybe get to bed early too!  Wishful thinking I know.  I still plan on making the truffles, chocolate makes everything better in my world!

  1. Hi! Cody said you gave us your shovel!!! Jarred is welcome to take it back with him next week, but I don't know how the flight attendants would feel about it! :)
