Rainy Day FUN!

It's raining, it's pouring, and all my kids think our house is BORING!!!  Ugh, what to do, what to do???  When all else fails, it's craft time around here.  Yesterday I "saved the day" with letting the kids make playdough.  Whew!  Crisis averted and the best part was we played outside on the patio so the house stayed clean!!  This recipe is super easy and Karnei Kid tested and approved!  And I personally like it because the kids can make it themselves so they take pride in it that much more!

Kool Aid Playdough

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup salt
1 pkg. kool aid drink powder
1/2 c. water
1/8 c. oil

In a bowl, mix together flour & salt.

Dissolve kool aid powder in water and add to flour mixture.  Combine.
Add in oil and mix with fingers to combine.  Store in a ziploc bag.

ENJOY!!!

We even came up with a really fun game.  We'd take turns going around the back yard and making an imprint on the playdough.  Then the rest of us would try to guess what made the print.  So fun, and educational too... bonus!
Later that afternoon Jarred & I took the kids to the fireworks stand.  They were SO excited!  This is the first year that we've let the kids get them, with the exception of a sparkler here and there.  It was absolutely precious to see the sparkle in their eyes as they listened to the salesperson say what each one did... my husband included.  He's a BIG kid when it comes to fireworks!  Needless to say we came home with PLENTY!  The kids couldn't stand it and insisted on lighting a few even though it had started to drizzle again as soon as we got home.

Madeline lighting a purple smoke bomb!

Very Pretty!

Chloe lighting the "dancing snakes"... no fear for this little girl!  She LOVED every minute!

It was really pretty, and the "snakes" at the end were pretty freaky! LOL!

Colby lighting up a tank...

It launched a full attack on the yard without fear! LOL!

And then came the rain....

So they made the most of it and played chalk on the back patio.

The rain let up and it was back to the fireworks!

All in all we had a great time and even though we were all pretty soggy when it was time to go in... it was a day that was anything but boring!

We wish you all a happy and safe 4th of July as we celebrate our country's independence!

GOD BLESS AMERICA!
