Around the House!

With the cooler weather (80's) we've been busy little bees buzzing around the house and sprucing things up.  I thought I'd give a quick update for y'all to see how the house is shaping up.  It's really starting to feel like home and I can feel roots beginning to plant themselves.  I know it's not realistic to hope for a "forever home" just yet with Jarred's career always keeping us on our toes (we've moved 7 times in the last 10 & 1/2 years), but a girl can hope right???

BEFORE
(this was taken the day we put a contract on the house - Oct. '09)

  YESTERDAY
We have GRASS!!!!
It's still "in progress", but we've come a LONG way!!!

We added this flower-less "flower bed" this weekend.

The kids were eager to help in hopes of earning an allowance to spend on fireworks!  And honestly what kid doesn't like to play in a huge pile of rocks -- especially if you're in the "country club".  LOL!

YEA!!!  Another finished project!  Well, sort of, we still have to set the rocks on the border.

We added this flowerbed too!
(The door on the left goes to our bedroom.)

A view of the backyard with a YARD!!!
Look at that grass & the finally finished pergola!
(Jarred put the "feet" on it to make it look "pretty" this weekend.)
It was SO nice to have a big ol' patio to grill out on this weekend!

And the garden got a facelift this weekend too!

We pulled up the sweet corn.  We were able to harvest about 10 ears and they were YUMMY!!
Not too bad for a first attempt.

With all the extra room, I replanted the back 2 rows with carrots, yellow & white squash, more beans & okra.  I also replanted the snow peas since we enjoyed them so much!

The other side of the garden!  My how things grow when we get rain & lots of sunshine!!

We even have 3 baby yellow watermelon.  That "jelly-bean" size thing on the left is a watermelon!
So cute!!  Not sure if it'll make it, but we're going to give it our best!

I also finally found a table for our gianormous foyer (aka "the dance hall").

So far so good!  No one has knocked anything over and I'm loving it!  I even put out some patriotic decor around the floral arrangement for the 4th!  Yea!  I LOVE pretty stuff!  Jarred has yet to make a comment on it... I think he's "taking the 5th" for his personal opinion! LOL!

Well, that's most of the changes that are done.  I still haven't finished the kids' rooms "makeovers".  They're close, but we still haven't hung anything on the walls.  Hopefully this week or the next.  But it's safe to say they LOVE their new rooms - especially "Princess Madeline"!   I've got a VERY ambitious list of errands to run today with all 3 kids so I'd better get crackin'!  Jarred's birthday is tomorrow so we've got all kinds of preparations to make!  I love birthdays and I LOVE my hubby!!!  Happy Wednesday!!!

  1. Angela, I love your garden. Jessica planted her own cherry tomato plant and has been eating them as fast as they come on.
