Beautiful Blessings

This weekend I finally experienced my first "girls weekend".  I have been very blessed to come in contact with an amazing group of girls here during our 6 short months of living in Abilene.  We headed out bright and early on Friday morning for a weekend of FUN in Fredericksburg Texas!

All smiles before we head out!

I've always been a social person, but until this past weekend I think I underestimated the power of fulfilling friendships and the freedom that they bring.  We enjoyed a weekend filled with beautiful blessings, endless girly giggling into the wee hours of the morning, exhausting (but rewarding) shopping, and food that honestly gives me goose bumps just thinking about how yummy it was!  It was a whole new experience to just be a girl for a few days... not a wife, mom, or anything else... just me!

Our Home Sweet Home!

Dinner our first night!
We ended up going to a local hangout afterwards and enjoying some Texas country music, courtesy of Ruby & The Snakehandlers.  LOL!  The band name says it all!  I even taught some of the girls to polka!  So fun!!

We had brunch here on Saturday morning to give us nourishment for a FULL day of shopping!

This sandwich should be called "heaven" because that's what it tasted like!  Makes my mouth literally water all over again!

Shopping till we drop!

My favorite purchase of the weekend!  My new purse.. her name is "Sassy Sally"! LOL!

Dinner Saturday night!
Aaah, more a-MAZ-ing food!  This night was especially memorable because this sweet couple blessed us by "anonymously" paying for our bill. WOW!!!  I'm continued to be in awe of the generousity people show.  As one of the girls put it, "They blessed our socks off!"  We asked our waiter at least for a name - our waiter promised them he wouldn't tell us until after the couple had left the restaurant - so we now have plans to write the local newspaper to show our thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Jack Thompson!  Your kindness is an inspiration and we all look forward to paying it forward!

Sunday morning a group of us headed a short way down the road to Boerne to float the Guadalupe River.  Unfortunately none of us had water-proof cameras so the breath-taking views will have to live in my memory, but I highly recommend this resort!  For $20 we were able to float the river in complete privacy for "2 hours" --it actually took us 4 (guess we got our money's worth! LOL!), and we spent the morning/afternoon  singing praise songs, soaking up sun, sharing our hearts, and having a BLAST - with the exception of me getting sucked into a "snake pit" of sticks and yuckiness!!!  You know, I used to always wonder if I was ever in a scary situation if I'd be able to scream... well, rest assured, I'll wonder no more.  Yes, ladies & gentlemen... I have the lungs of a screech owl!  No doubt my shrills could be heard for miles! LOL!  Thankfully the only sacrifice I made during that frightful experience was the loss of a brand new pair of sunglasses (thankfully they were inexpensive) and a few scrapes, cuts, and bruises.   But oh the memories that were made... PRICELESS!!!  So glad I can laugh at it now!  But at the time the only thing I could think of to calm me down was a yummy cheeseburger and curly fries!  LOL!  I don't know if it was the fear or being in the water, but it was all I could think about for the rest of the float.  My dreams came true when we got back to town and this beautiful sight was set before me!

Oh yes!  It was absolutely as good as it looks!!!  It was a perfect ending to a perfect weekend!
